Neoplastic Dermatopathology – Clues and Confounders

Educational Objective

Topic was selected to highlight histopathologically confounding issues in cutaneous neoplasms. Neoplasms selected encompass a spectrum of lineage-unrelated tumors that are commonly encountered some perhaps more than others by a general pathologist both in private practice and in an academic setting. Each speaker will begin with an initial description of the entity and conclude with clues and confounding issues relevant to the entity discussed. The moderator M Mahalingam, MD, PhD, FRCPath determined the 2015 topic. This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of general pathologists both in private practice and in an academic setting. Upon completion of this activity, participants should have a better awareness of:

  • Select cutaneous tumors entities commonly encountered in daily practice
  • Utility of state-of-the art techniques as adjuncts in histopathologic diagnosis of select cutaneous tumors
  • Clues and confounding issues associated with a spectrum of lineage-unrelated tumors commonly encountered by a general pathologist both in private practice and in an academic setting.
